Prayer Positions

This week, the children have been writing their shared write and continuing place value in maths. They have also started learning actions to a poem to perform next week, in Collective Worship, in celebration of National Poetry Day which was on 2nd October. Furthermore, in RE, the children discussed ways Christians might pray and how it can help them focus on their thoughts. Some of the children volunteered to show how Christians might pray.

Welcome 2H!

The first two weeks of term provided a great opportunity for the class to get to know each other. In the first week, the children listened to the story of The Colour Monster and explored different emotions. They also participated in a sports afternoon which ended sooner than planned because of a heavy rain shower! During the second week, the children had fun learning some circus skills involving eye coordination and balancing. The week ended with the children showing off their creative skills by making their own worry doll (inspired by the book, Silly Billy by Anthony Browne). A great start to year 2. Well done 2H!

Saying Goodbye!

Sadly, it’s our final year 2 blog for the school year. The children have had a great last day, celebrating their achievements, singing happy birthday to Ofure and having a final dance. The children said a final goodbye to Miss Wiktoria who is leaving the school. The day ended with a film and popcorn as a final treat!

Wonderful Women Exhibition

This term, class 2H have explored successful women in history. The children also did their own research on a wonderful woman of their choice. On Friday, 11th July, the children had the opportunity to showcase their work including their artwork inspired by Frida Kahlo. It was wonderful to see so many families attending to celebrate their child’s achievements. A great afternoon in spite of the heatwave!

Lotherton Hall Visit

Today, class 2H visited Lotherton Hall with the rest of year 2. Staff and family volunteers accompanied the pupils on a very hot day! The children explored the grounds and spotted some red deers and they spent some time observing a variety of animals. The children also met Florence Nightingale who told them about her interesting life as a nurse. A great day out!
